                                                    2 ND MOVEMENT

                                             (Excerpt from the world premiere)

The second movement serves as a slow, poetic-contemplative movement of calming between the
two fast movements. At the same time, the surprising harmonic changes keep the listener in an
active listening mode. No note should be too much. An unnecessary overloading of the musical
               text was avoided.

Before and during the described quote of Schumann varied by Albertz, a repeated G major chord
(second inversion) appears in the two- or three-note octave position: the ‘child motif’. It is a kind
of ‘sound image’ of a child playing this chord and thus announcing or accompanying the melody:

In this way, musical symbolism influenced Albertz during the creative process, as it also
demonstrably did the famous Thomaskantor Bach.
