Already at the beginning of the first movement, violins and viola, for example, are required to
stamp their feet on the floor at the same time as the note is played in order to achieve a percussive
effect:

Between measures 21-34, soloist and strings develop a kind of ‘urban dance’ (dance floor):
This ‘dance motif’ appears again later in the strings, while the piano develops another rhythmic-
melodic pattern above.
