From bar 60-66, an allusion to the theme of Bach's Chaconne is heard in the strings. This passage
has the function of an accompaniment to the piano, which at the same time recreates a kind of
Ibero-American dance:
Sef Albertz's admiration for Robert Schumann’s tonal universe should also be audible in his
PIANO CONCERTO. Already in the first movement, the motif B-G-F#-E-D from the piece ‘Von
fremden Ländern und Menschen’ can be heard, like an echo, which is found even more clearly
and evidently in the second movement. From bar 177-180, this thematic idea from the
Kinderszenen appears in the viola part, rhythmically and harmonically altered, preannouncing the
character of the second movement:
